en Infectious Diseases Research (Original) <span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="line-height:normal"><span calibri="" style="font-family:"><b><span style="font-size:14.0pt"><span new="" roman="" style="font-family:" times="">Abstract</span></span></b></span></span></span><br> <span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="line-height:normal"><span calibri="" style="font-family:"><b><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span new="" roman="" style="font-family:" times="">Background and purpose: </span></span></b><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span new="" roman="" style="font-family:" times="">Infectious diseases are one of the most important problems of AIDS patients. Currently, there is no accurate information about the infectious complications associated with this disease in the population covered by Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences.</span></span> <span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span new="" roman="" style="font-family:" times="">The purpose of this study is to provide information about this in this geographical area.</span></span></span></span></span><br> <span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="line-height:normal"><span calibri="" style="font-family:"><b><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span new="" roman="" style="font-family:" times="">Materials and methods:</span></span></b><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span new="" roman="" style="font-family:" times=""> The registered information was obtained from the health networks and health deputy of Mazandaran province and the website of the infectious disease management center of the Ministry of Health. After filtering, the collected data were entered into SPSS Ver 23 software. The distribution concerning the type of infection in HIV patients was analyzed based on GIS software.</span></span></span></span></span><br> <span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="line-height:normal"><span calibri="" style="font-family:"><b><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span new="" roman="" style="font-family:" times="">Results:</span></span></b><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span new="" roman="" style="font-family:" times=""> In this study, 466 patients with AIDS were investigated. 184 patients were tested for hepatitis C (62%) had negative results and (38%) had positive results. In the investigation of hepatitis B cases, the rate of acute cases was 4.5%.
