Abstract:
This study investigated the effectiveness of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) on the quality of life, life satisfaction, happiness, and self-concept of housewives. Employing a quasi-experimental pre-test/post-test control group design, the study recruited two groups of 20 housewives from the city of Isfahan through simple random sampling. The experimental group received MBCT intervention consisting of eight 90-minute sessions, adhering to a specific protocol. Data were collected using the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire (Argyle & Lu, 1990), the Ware and Sherbourne Quality of Life Questionnaire (Ware & Sherbourne, 1992), the Satisfaction with Life Scale (Diener et al., 1985), and the Rogers Self-Concept Questionnaire. The validity and reliability of these instruments were previously established. Data analysis involved descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (analysis of covariance). The findings revealed a statistically significant positive effect of MBCT on the quality of life, life satisfaction, happiness, and self-concept of housewives.
